Liberty! Audition Reminder – Sunday! Feb. 2nd

Celebrating the wedding

We would love for you to join us as part of the cast of Tennessee’s Official Outdoor Drama, “Liberty! The Saga of Sycamore Shoals!”

2014 marks the 36th year of Outdoor Drama at Sycamore Shoals.  Our July performances are the last 3 weekends in July, Thursday through Saturday, July 10 – 12, 17 – 19, and 24 – 26.

Auditions will be held this weekend, as follows:

Sunday, February 2 at 2 pm at Sycamore Shoals in the “Gathering Place” in the Visitors Center

at 3 pm – Auditions for our vocal, acapella group, The Liberty Singers, who perform during the presentation of Liberty!   Be prepared to sing a short selection of your choice in acapella format

Auditioning for a speaking role?   Joe Greene, our director, will ask you to read a portion of last year’s script.  Not to worry – you will have time to read and think about your presentation before you audition

Would you like to join us as a non-speaker? – Come over on Sunday and sign up – but you won’t have to stay unless you’d like to watch the auditions.  Don’t worry about clothing to wear in the drama – if you do not have your own period clothing, we will loan you the garments you need to wear during the presentation of Liberty!

If you can’t come Sunday but would like to participate in a non-speaking role, you can respond to this email with your name, address, phone number, and email.   Children participating in the drama must be accompanied by an adult.

Audition for Liberty: The Saga of Sycamore Shoals!

Sunday, February 2 at 2:00 pm

Passionate about our heritage?  Interested in performing in Tennessee’s official outdoor drama? Audition for this fun and unique interpretation of  the American Revolution as told by the Overmountain Men: colonists who defied British law and settled on Cherokee lands.  This performance takes place here at Sycamore Shoals, the last three weekends of July, Thursday through Saturday evenings.

Join our cast of volunteers who are dedicated to sharing the important stories of our region that occurred during the years prior to the ultimate creation of America, in the late 18th century on the colonial frontier!   And don’t worry about the clothing for the performance – we will loan that to you at no charge if you become a member of our cast.

So come on over to the park on Sunday, February 2 at 2 pm and audition for a speaking role OR sign up to be a non-speaker, a member of the settlement, and become a part of our Liberty! family.

We would LOVE to have you join us and help us to keep the stories alive that are so important to the history of our nation and our home!

Need information?  Call the park at 423-543-5808 and ask for Jennifer, Chad, Jason, or Johnnie!
