Opening tomorrow, October 1st, Sycamore Shoals welcomes the Sycamore Stitchers as they present their 21st annual Quilt Show!
The categories are as follows: Hand Quilted Bed Quilts, Machine Quilted Bed Quilts, Baby Quilts, Long Arm Quilted Bed Quilts, Juvenile/Lap Quilts, Holiday Wall Hangings, Large Wall Hangings, Small/Miniature Wall Hangings, Sycamore Stitchers Challenge and Antiques.
This year our challenge is called “Scrap Happy Spinning”. It must contain at least 10 different fabrics, at least 2 inches of stripped fabric (doesn’t have to be all in one piece), and must contain a spinning effect block. The exhibit will showcase talent that will be judged only by the spectators.
A People’s Choice Award will be given in 9 categories excluding antique quilts.
The show is open from 9 am – 4 pm October 1 – 3 (Thursday through Saturday) and from 1 – 4 pm on Sunday, October 4.
And while you are at the park Saturday and Sunday, October 3 & 4, from 10 am – 4 pm each day, check out the annual Fort Watauga Knap – In behind the Visitors Center near Fort Watauga! This annual event is dedicated to showcasing the survival and primitive skills of our ancestors with an emphasis on Flint Knapping, making tools out of stone.
