Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park is fortunate to have a large number of volunteers who share their time with us. Coming from a wide variety of backgrounds, we are honored to work with so many exceptionally talented individuals! The dedication of our volunteers makes it possible for our park to offer such a wide variety of educational and entertaining family oriented programming.
Our primary support organization is Friends of Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area. Under their umbrella falls The Watauga Valley Fife and Drum Corps, the Washington County Regiment North Carolina Militia, the Sabine Hill Social Society, and the Master Gardeners. In addition, our Friends group assists us each July as we present Liberty!, Tennessee’s Official Outdoor Drama. There are also individuals and small groups working on various project that enhance the park and your experiences while you are visiting us.
Please visit Friends of Sycamore Shoals at the link above and consider becoming a member!
Thank YOU for supporting Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park!
I am interested in the deeds for the various tracts purchased form the Cherokee and known as the Watauga Treaty of March 1775. Do the Friends possess copies of these documents?
Hi Ben, I am afraid we do not. We would be interested to know if you come across any of these documents. Good luck on your search!
I have a copy of what I am sure is the “Path Deed” I am working on it to prepare a plot of the tract on Google earth. I will send it and my thoughts for your analysis and input.
Very exciting! If you wish to email, please contact me at jennifer.bauer@tn.gov
