Wednesday, July 18th

11:00 am: Carter Mansion Tour – Built by Watauga settlement leaders, John and Landon Carter a tour of Tennessee’s oldest frame home is a must! Adults- $7.00 (cash only please); 7-17 years old – $3.00 and those 6 and under are free.

2:00 pm: Sabine Hill House Tour– Accompany Stuart on a tour of the famous Taylor family’s recently restored, 19th century home! Adults- $7.00 (cash only please); 7-17 years old – $3.00 and those 6 and under are free.

Thursday, July 19th

9:30 am to 11:30 am: Lifestyles of Cherokee Indians- Meet Stuart outside Fort Watauga and see how the Cherokees survived in the frontier wilderness.

1:00pm Nature Hike– Join Jared for a nature hike around the grounds of Sycamore Shoals and learn about the trees, shrubs and wildlife inhabiting the area!

2:00 pm: Sabine Hill House Tour– Accompany Stuart on a tour of the famous Taylor family’s recently restored, 19th century home! Adults- $7.00 (cash only please); 7-17 years old – $3.00 and those 6 and under are free.

3:30 pm: Enslaved People at Sabine Hill- Stuart will be at the historical Sabine House to share how the African-Americans of the Taylor estate lived and worked.

 Friday July 20th

9:30 am: Tomahawk Throwing- Join Jared in Fort Watauga and learn how the tomahawk was used by both Native Americans and early European settlers.

8:00 pm: Camp Fire- Stuart and Jared will entertain guests with spooky stories, including several of Cherokee origin! Park and meet in the parking lot by the pool.

 Saturday, July 21st  

9:00am: River Stomp: Explore one of the healthiest rivers in Tennessee; enjoy a morning of hunting macroinvertebrates, and investigating the river. (You may get wet!) Meet Jared in front of the visitor center.

1:00-3:00: Pelt Program– Stop in and meet Jared the museum to learn about the mammals that inhabit east Tennessee.

3:30 pm: Living in the Wilderness: the Long Hunter- Discover how an 18th Century Long Hunter would live in the Appalachian frontier. Meet Stuart at the wooded area next to the fort gates. 

Sunday, July 22nd

9:00 am: Fishing on the Watauga– Join Jared for a fishing lesson on the Watauga. Bring a fishing pole if desired. Meet in Front of the visitor center.

10:30 am – 11:30 am: Carter County’s American Civil War Experience– Meet a Union soldier stationed in Carter County in 1864 and hear about how the Civil War affected this area. See what a typical soldier would have carried in his haversack to withstand army life, and how he would load and fire his rifled musket. Meet in Fort Watauga.

3:30 pm: Walking Tour of Fort Watauga- Join Stuart at the back doors of the Visitor Center for a short walking tour of Fort Watauga and hear about the significant events that occurred at Sycamore Shoals during the 18th century. 

Friday, July 27th

9:00 am: Daniel Boone- Learn about the life and travels of Daniel Boone as he made his way through the Tennessee wilderness. Meet Jared in the Fort.

3:30 pm: Rifle and Musket Comparison: Join Stuart behind the visitor center for a comparison of the two weapons which faced off during the American Revolution. Stuart will demonstrate the Brown Bess musket of the British army and the American long rifle. Discover the differences between these weapons and their different uses on the battlefield.

Take a left out of the Park. Go to the 5th red light and bear left. Then go to the 4th red light (Food City will be on your right) then continue across the highway. The Carter Mansion is the 4th house on the left.

Sabine Hill is located at 2328 West G Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643

Take a right out of the Park. Take a left at the second red light. In about 100 yards take immediate right on a dead end road. Sabine hill is located beyond the gate going up to the hill to the left.
